Fashion week just ended and here I am trying to collate this year’s item ‘must-haves’ every fashion girl should add in her wardrobe. And don’t you worry! I’m quite positive this list will get you going in style throughout the year. Ready? I thought so, too!
Colors, textures, and themes are very much evident in this year’s runway collection. And so, if I get to choose my top three (3) elements for 2017, these would be: velvet, statement earrings, and 90s slip dresses. Let’s go check each one out!
Velvet (Styling tips: loose fitting and burgundy)
Let’s go velvet-y! You see it on jackets, pants, dresses, and even shoes. No wonder velvet was and will still be trending for 2017. It’s a visually expanding fabric and to make it stand out - darker colors are your best bet. Personally, I'd never wear a skinny velvet pants or fitted dresses.
Burgundy is the most commonly used color for velvet. You would want to style it with loose fitting pants topped with a fitted tee or shirt, or velvet jacket with skinny jeans to create that perfect contrast.

Statement Earrings (Styling tips: the bolder the better)
Unlike before, statement earrings don’t have to be always formal and glimmering. This year’s statement earrings embrace versatility where they can go with any hairstyle and outfit.
A quick tip though – DON’T style them with bold necklaces. As I always say (and do) – focus on one element and make it a focal point in your final look. Then, you’re good to go!

90s Slip Dresses (Styling tips: style it with a tee underneath)
This is the dress that doesn’t have to fit you perfectly! Have it loose or slim – it all depends on your style and comfort.
I really like how Zoë Kravitz styles her red slip dress – simple yet classy! You can opt to wear a simple tee underneath and pair it with heels, flats, or even sneakers. An even better news is that you can create this effortless look in less than 5 minutes. Pretty awesome, huh!?
